One-time Introductory Lessons for ages 10-100, with Linda Mosley
A Taste of Tea is a one-time lesson offered mainly for those who are curious about the practice but not ready to commit to long-term study. Instruction is tailored to the age and interests of the participants. Lessons are conducted while seated on stools at a table, a style called ryurei 立礼. The lesson may take place either at Linda’s home tea room in central Austin for one to six people, or at your location with Linda’s portable tea equipment for larger groups.
Linda first gives a short introduction to Chado (The Way of Tea) and then presents an informal tea ceremony where participants will be guided in the guest’s role for receiving a serving of matcha tea and a Japanese confection. The optional Whisking Matcha hands-on activity may be added to learn how to prepare matcha tea properly with a bamboo whisk.
The fee varies based on number of participants and location. Matcha and Japanese confections are included. Please schedule one month in advance. For times available at Linda’s home tea room, see current schedule or CONTACT Linda Mosley
