One-time Introductory Lessons for ages 10-100, with Linda Mosley

Instruction will be tailored to the age and interests of the participants. Lessons are mainly conducted while seated at a low table, a style called ryurei 立礼 or ritusurei-shiki. Instruction while sitting seiza 正座, formal kneeling position on a tatami floor, is available upon request. The fee varies based on number of participants and location. Please schedule one month in advance.

  • A Taste of Tea — Linda will first give a short introduction to Chado (The Way of Tea) and then present an informal tea cermony where you will be guided in the guest’s role for receiving your serving of matcha tea and a Japanese confection. For times available at Linda’s home tea room, see current schedule or CONTACT Linda Mosley

  • Whisking Matcha Lesson — an enjoyable way to learn how to prepare matcha tea with a bamboo whisk. Participants will take turns making tea for each other after a brief introduction to the Japanese tea ritual. Matcha and Japanese confections are included. For times available at Linda’s home tea room, see current schedule or CONTACT Linda Mosley
